Admission Procedure for Doctoral (Ph.D.) Programme

-Institute is a research center of RGPV Bhopal for pursuing Ph.D. Programmes in various disciplines. Admission to Ph.D. programmes is notified by Rajiv Gandhi Technological University, Bhopal from time to time. Those who are willing to pursue Ph.D. from MITS research center are required to submit the application form through the institute only.

- Institute is also a QIP (Quality Improvement Programme) Center of AICTE for Ph.D. Programmes in following disciplines

Who is eligible for admission in direct second year engineering?

Diploma holders / Graduates (in Mathematics) are eligible for direct admission to the 2nd year of engineering programme. Admission to direct 2nd year is commonly known as “Lateral Entry” admission. No. Institute only offers Ph.D. admission under QIP scheme of AICTE.

I have a Master’s degree in engineering. Am I eligible for PhD programme under Quality Improvement Programme (QIP)?

Yes, but it is required to fulfill other requirements also, as per QIP scheme eligibility criteria’s.

What is the stipend for students who take admission to M.E./M.Tech programmes through GATE?

As per AICTE norms.

Are books provided to the students?

Yes. Institute has a very rich central library- currently houses around 1,00,000 books and subscription to International e-journal databases of approx. 620+ e- journals titles.

Is there any counseling / orientation programme for newly admitted students?

Yes. Before commencement of classes, institute has a practice to organize an orientation program to brief the students about the institute/department, curriculum, examination system, etc.

Is there any possibility to avail education loan?

Yes, students can apply for education loan to any nationalized bank. Institute extends all necessary support for the same.

Is hostel facility available in the campus?

Yes. Separate hostel facility for Boys and Girls are available in the MITS Campus. The hostels consist of spacious and well-furnished rooms which are excellent for living in terms of food, recreations, and a positive atmosphere for study.

Is it compulsory to live in Institute Hostel?

No. It is up to the student.

Does MITS provide internet facility?

Yes. Internet facility is available, MITS Campus is Wi-Fi enabled.

What is the teaching methodology at MITS?

Knowledge is imparted through class room teaching, presentations, seminars, group discussions, case study, project work, field assignments, group study, experimental learning, etc. Class room lectures are conducted with the aid of multi-media projector, white board, PA Lectern System and Ceiling Mount Interactive Projectors, etc. In addition, institute offers provision for learning through Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) - under the supervision of faculty members, learning through webinars, etc.  

What about the curriculum?

As the Institute is granted “autonomous” status by the affiliating university- RGPV Bhopal and UGC, New Delhi, so institute has its own curriculum and it is designed to meet the current requirements of industry and also considering the latest developments in the respective field/discipline.

Yes, students from other state can take admission under All India Seats quota. As per the recent practice for the allotment of seats, following is the distribution pattern.

90% Seats for M.P. Domicile

5% Seats for NRI Quota

What are the provisions taken by institute to stop Ragging?

MITS Gwalior is a “Zero Ragging campus”. Anti-ragging committees have been formed to ensure “Zero Ragging”. Institute has also formed the anti ragging committee, as per the directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. Moreover, discipline committee also exists to take care of/handle the related issues, if any.

What is the Grievance Redressal system for Girls?

All the issues are handled by the Woman’s Grievance Cell/ Guidance Cell of the institute.

Arrangement of remedial classes is a regular practice to help & promote academically weak students.
